What Flatters a Petit Figure

If you have a petit body type, you should wear clothes that fall where they're supposed to. For shirts wear ones that fall at your waistline and that emphasize your waist. Wear skirts that fall above your knee; they will lenghten your legs since ones that are calf or ankel length will make you appear shorter. Go for skinny or straight legged pants since boot cut and flare will also make you appear much shorter than you actually are. Avoid large prints; they will make you overwhelm your petit figure and avoid cropped jackets, tops, and pants; they will make you appear shorter as well.

This skirt is perfect for your petit figure since it falls above the knee.

This dress emphasizes the waist and the shorter hemline makes your legs appear longer.

The short hemline mixed with the high-heeled booties add height to your figure and the decorative shoulder adds interest.

This delicate lace dress works well with your petit figure and the short hemline emphasizes your legs.

What Flatters a Tall Figure

If you have a tall body type you may find that your legs are much longer in length than your torso. The distance between your bust and your waistline will be small. Generally, tall women should wear longer tops, narrow belts in non-contrasting colours, horizontal striped clothing, and that don't have waistbands. Avoid wearing short hemlines and three-quarter length tops as they may appear as if you have out grown your clothes.

Although the hem length is shorter this outfit still works well since the long shirt breaks up your tall figure.

The tight fitting top with the dark coloured loose fitting pants makes you appear not as tall.

The low sitting waist and longer hemlines shows off your height in a classy way.

The skinny jeans with the layered shirts breaks up your height and adds definition to your lengthy figure.

A loose fitting dress with a longer hemline looks great on a tall woman.

The asymmetrical hemline adds interest while the longer hemline works well with your height.

What Flatters an Hourglass Figure

An hourglass figure is wider at the hips and bust, creating a small and narrow waist. If you fall in this figure category you should consider wearing clothes that are tight fitting around your waist, are belted at the waist, and high waisted skirts. Below are some examples of hourglass flattering outfits all available at Lux Butik.

A fitted dress highlights your small waist while the decorative one shoulder adds interest.

Trend #5: Lace Embrace

What could be a better trend to any season then the ultra-feminine romantic theme. Bring out your flirty side with this trend as it focuses on lace, crochet and sheer. These influences for Spring are more to the classic side with quality antique-style fabrics the key to the trend.

How to wear it: This trend can be worn allover or layered to create a more casual look. If worn allover, be sure to not to overdo it. Keep it clean with a full lace dress as opposed to mixing the trend with many pieces.

Trend #4: Petal Pushers

This Spring, it seems that everything is coming up in roses. Again, floral prints may be a recurring theme on the runway, but it’s the glorious garden variety that keeps them looking fresh.

How to wear it: A fashion forward way to play with this bloom, is playing with the scale, and mix n’ matching prints. For a more day to day look, keeping the floral print one piece at a time is key.

Trend #3: Sea of Blue

Intense blues make a serious splash for spring/summer 2011. This blue hue tends to brighten most skin tones, leaving you gleaming for Spring!

How to wear it: For the fearless few, combine unexpected hues for the new colour blocking look. For a more classic look, pair with white for a cool, breezy look. Try to keep the blue hues on top, as they brighten most skin tone.

Trend #2: 70's Revival

Retro is back, and as exciting as ever. There are two main aesthetics: '70s bohemian, and '70s sophisticated glamour. As for the first, peasant dresses and tops, crochet vests, bellbottoms, wedge shoes and denim on denim are key. When it comes to the latter, think high-waist pants with elegant blouses by day.

How to wear it: This is the most fashion forward trend for Spring; so beware. Keep it clean and select only the key elements that suit your body shape and style. Pairing a bellbottom or flare leg jean with a wedge shoe is a perfect mix.

Spring Trend #1: Barely There Pales

Spring is in the air and Spring/Summer fashions are hitting the stores. In order to get you looking your best for this Spring, we have put together the Top 5 Spring/Summer trends, revealing them daily!

Starting with...

Trend 1: Barely There Pales

Neutral colours (sand, buff, beige) and barley there pales like light pink and greys are one of the top trends this Spring. They give a clean and feminine look to any outfit.

How to wear it: The warm colors of neutrals, pale pinks and greys are naturally beautiful on their own or revamped when paired with black. If you think wearing neutral shades head to toe will wash you out, wear another color up top like always-chic black or a flattering red.
