Style Comparison - Salma Hayek Pinault

By Natalie Naccarato

Salma Hayek Pinault (I know, I know, I'm getting used to her new last name as well) has been out doing a lot of press for her film Grown Ups opening today. She has looked lovely often choosing form-fitting short dresses and killer heels.
Here she is at the NYC premiere of Grown Ups wearing a Yves Saint Laurent white dress with coral accents.

Here is LUXaholic's equally pretty version, the Lipsy Colour Jewel Strapless Dress. Similar to Salma's outfit, this one has accents as well, but this time they come in the form of coloured jewels on the pockets. What a pretty comparison at a fraction of the cost!

More Nude!

By Natalie Naccarato

It's not just nude heels that are making a huge splash this season, it's all things nude that are oh so current at the moment. LUXaholic is fully supportive of this trend and we've been keeping an eye on stylish celebrities making a statement in nude!

One of our favourite looks has been strapless nude dresses that seem to be popping up everywhere! Eva Longoria Parker recently wore a great version of the trend to celebrate hubby Tony Parker's birthday:

Other celebs wearing a similar look include Annalynne McCord, Marisa Miller and Naomi Watts (in a floor length version).

LUXaholic.ca carries two great takes on this trend, the Lipsy Colour Jewel Strapless dress on the left and the Queen of Hearts dress below on the right. Check them out to get your nude fix!

Miss Me is an American fashion brand that first launched in the Spring of 2001. What we love about the line is the affordable price points that don't cheapen the style. Miss Me Jeans boasts fine tailoring, great washes, specialized designs, and great back pocket designs that will have them missing you as you walk away! The brand is well known for its embellished styles inspired by western and rock themes, but also enjoys the success of its hand-stitched and signature stitched basics.

The line has been worn by Miley Cyrus, 'Lil Mama, Mischa Barton and Ashley Greene among others, and has been featured in Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and Teen Vogue.

CFDA Awards Spotlight: Alexander Wang

By Natalie Naccarato

We are continuing today with the CFDA Awards spotlights on winning designers.
Each year Swarovski hands out three awards and scholarships at the event to emerging talent. This year's winner of the Swarovski Accessories Award was Alexander Wang. Since coming onto the fashion scene just a few short years ago Alexander Wang has been a huge success, especially in the accessories department - as soon has his bags and shoes hit store shelves, they fly off! It's no surprise that he won!

Alexander Wang is the go-to designer for cool model-off-duty style. We're talking edgy looks in solid neutral colours that always seem ahead of the fashion curve while bringing to mind styles of the past. He keeps simplicity in mind, while still offering a ...for lack of a better word...bad-ass style. His shoes are especially killer, he knows exactly what all the young ladies will be lusting after.

Here is a sampling of his 2010 accessories for which he won his award:

CFDA Awards Spotlight: Marc Jacobs

By Natalie Naccarato

The 2010 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards were held Monday night at the Lincoln Center in NYC. The awards recognize outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals in womenswear, menswear, accessories, and journalism. Our favourite part?? The always delicious fashion eye candy of course!
LUXaholic has decided that instead of just recapping the night's fashion, we will showcase one award winner per day for the remainder of the week and show some of their collections (Spring 2010 and Fall 2010) for which they won.

The sought after prize of the night is always the Womenswear Award, which was presented to Marc Jacobs this year. Here he is posing with his statuette and presenter Jessica Biel (wearing DVF):

Here are some CFDA attendees wearing Marc Jacobs:

With his 2010 collections Marc Jacobs made it clear that he was moving towards a ladylike aesthetic. He brought a lot of texture and volume. If you take away anything from his work in 2010 Marc would want it to be: dress individually for yourself, and stop wearing all that black!
