5 Must Haves For Every Shopaholic

Diamonds, beads, bows, purses, tots and belts. Every woman has her own passion when it comes to accessories. And it's a passion worth indulging in.

Accessories don’t only finish an outfit; they can set your tone and look. With the simple switch from heels to flats, studs to hoops or tots to classic structured clutches can change an entire outfit. The bottom line is a girl can’t live with a wardrobe filled with clothes and no accessories to change up these looks. Accessories are an easy way to add personality to what you have on. Here are 5 must haves every woman should not live without

Pumps: Round, square, peep-toe or pointed...Pumps are a must have for every girl. They can take you from sophisticated at work to sexy in the evening.

Flats: Perfect for giving your feet a break from pumps, great for on the go. The Ballet flat or flat sandal really does it all for your feet and your on-the-go outfit.

Diamonds: Costume or real; necklace, ring or bracelet...Diamonds will always shine regardless of the outfit they are paired with.

Watch: A good watch is a must have. Whether buying an expensive watch that will last a lifetime or a simple watch to pair with any outfit; a watch is a must have for every woman.
Clutch: For an evening on the town a clutch is a must have. Holding only what you need for the night, every girl needs a clutch.

A Tribute to Alexander McQueen:1969-2010

Alexander McQueen was a bad boy gone good, rising from London's couture house of Givenchy to his own label, becoming one of Brittan's best known and most celebrated designer. McQueen was named British Designer of the Year four times, and was worn by celebrities including Lady GaGa, Cate Blanchette and Kate Moss. The 40 year-old designer was found dead yesterday at his home in London, England. Just one week after his mother passed away.

In McQueen's early years he was described as a rebel and even a hooligan; but these traits were the secret to creating his name and success as a talented tailor and designer. His controversial start at Givenchy, with aggressive design and edgy collections, helped make his designs desirable in the industry.

Like his designs, he stood out. With his skin-head appearance and Doc Martens, his signature bad ass look helped him become a recognizable fashion icon. From unique feather wedding dresses to his bizarre shoe collection, his designs were worn by style icons everywhere. Today is about paying our respects to a world renowned, well respect designer. Rest in peace Alexander McQueen, may your legend live on.

The Harem Pant- Comfort & Fashion

This spring and summer the harem pant has finally made its way out of Europe and into the wardrobes of style icons everywhere.

The Harem pant, or as some people might know them as dropped crotch pants, are this season's most surprising must have item. The edgy style is baggy throughout the leg and generally banded at the top and bottom.

Stepping outside of your usual style and purchasing your first pair can be difficult if you don't find the right fit for your body; just remember we want to avoid looking like MC Hammer. To do so pair harem pants with a nice blouse and high shoe to give this style a chic look.
Once you find a harem pant that compliments your figure the great thing is this versatile pant can be worn as evening wear, casual wear and now even work attire. Pairing the pant with different shoes and tops can give you an edgy look for most occasions.

Olivia Palermo chooses to wear the harem pants as a comfortable pant for the day our, where as Kim Kardashian chooses to make her style a bit more chic for a launch party.

Bibs Aren’t for Babies Anymore: Jewellery Trends for 2010

Fashion gets more and more exciting as the warm weather approaches. But what can we wear to compliment our great outfits this spring?

First and foremost jewellery should be big, dramatic, bold and unique this spring; however, we must choose accessories that are eclectic and not tacky. Choose statement pieces that add character to an outfit. One big trend this spring is the bib necklace which is perfect if you're looking for a necklace to be the centrepiece of your outfit. Adding a bib necklace can give your outfit a more upscale look! Bib necklaces are statement pieces and don't go with every outfit, keep things simple and avoid an overly busy look.

Looking for a simple look? This spring multi-chain necklaces create a bold look, which is clean and simple. Knots, length and colour are showing up in jewellery styles across the map, and give us something to look forward to in fashion.

By adding accessories you can take a look from casual to ready for a night on the town. Visit http://www.luxaholic.ca/ for the hottest jewelry trends this spring or Click Here!

Asymmetrical Designs—So Hot!

In the past few weeks we see even more of the trends that will be everywhere for spring. From the Oscars to the Grammys, spring fashion is getting more and more exciting as it approaches. A new style we are starting to see goes completely against symmetry. Dresses, tops, blouses, sleeves and hemlines, all non symmetric. Not only is this design showing up everywhere, it wont take long for these designs to become a great addition to swimwear.

This asymmetric look can be as simple as a dress with a long back and short front, or a dress with only one strap. One sleeve blouses, toga style dresses and uneven hemlines...the list goes on and the styles are endless. Creativity has no boundaries this year, which makes for a fun and fashion filled spring-- right into the summer!

Out With The Winter Blues- In With Spring Fashion!

The Grammys red carpet styles brought us lots of joy this year. What outfits paved the way for new spring trends?

This year a lot of bold colours showed up on the red carpet at the Grammys. The colour we saw most of was blue! A wast array of the colour blue has opened the horizon for bold colours and styles this spring.

Blues taken from nature and transitioned to outfits walked the red carpet at the Grammys. All shades of blue were on everyone from Nelly Furtado to Beyonce. We saw every shade of blue, from royal blue to shades with slight purple undertone. So, this means winter blues are over and its time to embrace blue with spring fashion! Want to get the look, check out Fierce Royalty Dress at http://www.luxaholic.ca/

The Future is Literally Ours—when it comes to fashion!

Futuristic looks for spring 2010 are in! Raised collars, metallic fabrics and unique interpretations of the 60's view of modern space age have hit the runway. Designers are being creative with this fun and unique style. The future is a mystery, so these designs have no limit. These looks are extreme and abstract; they are literally out of this world.

Now all though this look is entertaining, thought provoking and extraordinary it is a bit much to wear on a day to day basis. Remember, most things that come down a runway are generally the extreme version of a style; however, these looks convert well. This futuristic trend is really about trying new things, being different, looking powerful and having fun. Play with the geometry of your body and the geometry of your wardrobe.

Fashionomics: Focus On Your Must Haves

Now, if you have been reading the blog, you know all about the latest trends and must haves. Unfortunately not all of us are ready to burn through money to stay on top of the latest trends; but that does not mean we cannot create a fabulous wardrobe on a budget.

They key to looking amazing and trendy is really simple; the rule here is buying versatile pieces and selecting items you can take from work, to evening, to weekend. This can be done by changing accessories, adding a jacket or even changing up foot wear.

Shop smart by staying in your budget. Buy things you need and things that you can wear multiple ways. The "Flow into the Night Top" at http://www.luxaholic.ca/ takes you from work right into the night with its versatile look. Pair it with jeans for a casual look or dress it up with a blazer for work. This top features a key hole back and button closure, flowing sleeves and satin finish with elastic waist and a belt. Check out http://www.luxaholic.ca/ for other great clothes that suit all occasions.

The Grammys '10: The Good, the Bad and the Weird

The Good:

Beyonce Knowles showed off her inner fashionista and entertained in a line-up of show stopping outfits. She was working the red carpet in a beautiful neutral gown with exquisite design emphasizing her every curve. Then she changed into a little black leather dress to perform on stage; and finally to accept her awards (six in total) for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, a detailed mini dress, practically made of Swarovski crystals, ensured she had that wow factor.

The Bad:

Of course a red carpet brings the best looks of fashion together every year at the Grammys; but this year bad outfits were in no short supply. Mary J. Blige chose a Gucci dress with a not so flattering neckline; and Kesha chose this gold flapper style dress that does nothing for her figure. Now, don't get me wrong, these outfits are not awful, but in a world of amazing designers and styles, they could have been better selected.
And we must give credit as these are not even close to the worst outfits we saw.

The Weird:
She never fails to shock us with crazy outfits and designs. Pop star Lady Ga Ga walks the red carpet in futuristic designs, and doesn't hesitate to change her wardrobe as frequent as the blinking eye. She goes from one eccentric outfit to the next this year with questionable designs, which only she could get away with.
